How to install Samsung Galaxy Note 4 July 2017 Security update? [N910FXXS1DQG5]

Following many Samsung S series phones, the Note series is now receiving the latest July 2017 security patch update. This includes the international Samsung Galaxy Note 4 SM-N910F with firmware build number N910FXXS1DQG5, the US carrier variant Sprint Galaxy Note 4 Baseband version N910PVPS4DQG1. Soon more carrier variants shall receive the same including Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile Note 4. The OTA update is still based on the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and not the latest Android 7.0 Nougat. The Note 4 may soon receive the Samsung Experience 8.1 update. However, for now, you will have to settle for the TouchWiz update only.

Apart from the July update, the OTA update brings stability to the stock firmware. It also claims to be battery friendly. There are no additional features or functionalities with this software upgrade.

How to update Galaxy Note 4 to latest security patch?

Step 1: Make sure your Note 4 device is running stock firmware.

Step 2: Note down the exact model number and the CSC code or the region it belongs to.

Step 3: Download the latest full stock firmware for your particular device from Samsung Servers to PC.

Step 4: Download and run the latest Odin tool on PC as administrator.

Step 5: Reboot device into Download Mode or Odin mode.

Step 6: Connect device to PC via USB cable.

Step 7: Extract the Note 4 stock firmware zip to get the .TAR file.

Step 8: Add the firmware to [AP] slot.

Step 9: Start the upgrade.

Step 10: Reboot to system.
