Samsung Galaxy S8 (Plus) gets October 2017 patch with firmware build G950FXXU1AQI9

Following many other Samsung devices including the Galaxy S7, S7 Edge, and A5 series, the October 2017 security patch update comes to the flagships Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus. The OTA update was first reported by Netherlands users in Europe. It brings a new firmware build number G950FXXU1AQI9 and G955FXXU1AQI9 for S8 and S8+ respectively. Apart from the October patch, the firmware also brings stability to DeX mode. According to the changelog, you will see even more stability for the S8 Launcher. Check the full update log from below.
For now, the update only comes to the international variants of Samsung S8 (SM-G950F/FD) and S8 Plus (SM-G955F/FD). OTA zip is currently rolling out in the regions of Europe followed by the continents of Asia, Australia, and eventually across the globe. The unlocked variants like SM-G950U and G955U could be the next. At the end, the carrier bound variants from AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon may most likely see the same October OTA soon enough.
Samsung confirmed that the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus to receive the Android 8.0 firmware update under the manufacturer’s Oreo Beta program. Oreo beta update may soon come to the S-series flagship in the upcoming weeks. Though it is rumored that the update may be released in October, but that is highly skeptical at this point.
Meanwhile, enjoy the Samsung’s latest monthly October security update based on Android 7.0 Nougat. It has the Samsung Experience 8.1. However, you can install the Samsung Experience 8.5 based on 7.1.1 Nougat using the Note 8 port. All you need to do is root S8 and flash the ROM using TWRP.
