December 2017 Security Patch for Galaxy S8 (Plus) is now available for download via OTA

Samsung is now all set to drop stable Oreo in early January 2018. Meanwhile, December 2017 security patch for Galaxy S8(plus) is making rounds in different regions around the globe. The current iteration is moving the firmware build number to G950NKSU1AQL3 and G955NKSU1AQL3 based on Nougat OS. It is rolling in the Korean region as of now over-the-air(OTA). As it is moving in waves soon other regions are also expected to receive the update.
Moreover, the update is also reportedly rolling out in the US for many network carriers like including T-Mobile. T-Mobile seems to be the first carrier to rollout the December security patch. This comes with the firmware build numbers (baseband versions) G950USQS2BQL1 and G955USQS2BQL1 for the US Snapdragon Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus variants with model numbers SM-G950U and SM-G955U.
This upgrade is just the monthly security level step-up. Nothing important or big is accompanying this one. It sure does improve stability and feature general bug fixes as well. We guess it’s a move from Samsung to get the S8 devices updated to latest software before finally releasing Android Oreo. Apart from the automatic OTA capture, you can also manually download and install the latest firmware from official servers. The download link for the same is given below.
Most recently the 4th phase of Oreo Beta for Galaxy S8(plus) started seeding in US, UK, and Korea for limited users.
