Sony Xperia XZ1 and XZ1 Compact gets Android 9.0 Pie OTA update with build 47.2.A.4.45

Followed by the release of Android 9 for Sony’s flagship phones Xperia XZ2 and XZ3, the manufacturer is now rolling out official Android 9.0 Pie OTA update for the Xperia XZ1 and XZ1 Compact phones as well. It comes with a new firmware build number 47.2.A.4.45. The update also comes with a newer security patch level. So download and install official Android 9.0 Pie for Sony Xperia XZ1, XZ1 (Dual SIM) and XZ1 (Compact) to Android 9.0 Pie.
Currently, the OTA is available in European region with countries like Germany receiving it right now. Customized NOBA in Scandinavian region has also received it. Soon all variants of Sony Xperia XZ1 will receive the same including the XZ1 G8341, Dual (G8342), G8343, and XZ1 Compact (G8441).
All of these variants get similar build numbers 47.2.A.4.45. The OTA rollout is phased so not all the regions will receive it at the same time. You can go to Settings > System Updates > and check for any OTA updates available for download. The update features all the new Android 9 Pie goodies including:
- New system navigation,
- New settings menu
- Advanced notification options and channels
- Adaptive Battery power prioritization for most commonly used apps or services
- Adaptive Brightness levels
- Predictive Application Actions
- Sony camera upgrade
- Much more.
How to download Sony Xperia XZ1 (Compact) Android 9.0 Pie?
If your device hasn’t received the update yet, don’t worry we have got you covered. Following you can directly download the full stock firmware for Xperia XZ or XZ1 compact variants directly from Sony servers. Here are the steps:
Step 1: Open XperiFirm tool to see a list of available Sony Xperia devices
Step 2: Select the device > Select the region for which you want to download.
Step 3: It will show the latest firmware available for that region.
Step 4: A ‘Firmware Details’ dialog box will show.
Step 5: Click download to get the firmware file
