Samsung is about to launch a new Foldable smartphone and the successor to the stunning Fold 2 device this year. The new devcie called the Galaxy Z Fold 2 will be launched later this year with and expected date of September 1, 2020. Earlier last month, Samsung launched the 5G variants of the budget foldable phone called the Galaxy Z Flip 5G alongside the Galaxy Note 20 series. However, Samsung is about to reveal a true successor to the original Galaxy Fold.

The Galaxy Z Fold 2 is aesthetically quite similar to the first generation Samsung Fold with a few tweaks here and there. The Galaxy Z Fold 2 will feature 6 cameras this year. Three at the rear and two in the front. As expected, the display is the main feature of Fold 2, as Samsung makes most of the smartphone screens. The inner display panel features Dynamic AMOLED 2X with an adaptable 120 Hz screen refresh rate. By adaptable, Samsung means that the device will be tweaked to adjust the refresh rate between 1 Hz and 120 Hz. The display panel comes with a screen resolution of 1,768 x 2,208 px and 5:4 aspect ratio.

Samsung abandoned the notch this time for their innovative Infinity-O display and a punch hole for camera. The bezels are thinner than the original Fold. Moreover, the outer display features a Super AMOLED display with 60 Hz refresh rate. It is tall with a resolution of 816 x 2,260 px and 25:9 aspect ratio. Both the displays support HDR10+. The fingerprint reader is mounted on the side where it is easily accessible.

As for the hardware configuration, the Z Fold 2 is powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 865+ chipset. Supported with 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256 GB of storage. The phone features 5G connectivity out of the box supporting both sub-6 GHz and mmWave.
