Stable Android 9 Pie rolling out for Xiaomi Mi Box 3, Download OTA Now!
Xiaomi recently started Android 9 Pie beta program and release 3 OTA updates. We were the first publication to report about the beta program wand also the first to get you the stable Android 9 Pie for the Mi Box 3. The beta program started just last month and here we are with the stable OTA update! As we predicted correctly, the previous OTA 0 Beta 2 OTA for Mi Box 3 was the last beta update for the device. Xiaomi just pushed out stable Android 9 Pie OTA update today to everyone. So download the latest Android 9 Pie OTA update for the Mi Box 3!
After a brief, but thorough, beta program – where Xiaomi release 3 consecutive OTA update with builds OTA 0 Beta 0, Beta 1, Beta 2 – here is the stable Android 9 Pie OTA for Mi Box 3. The full OTA update weighs a whopping 650MB in size. Stay tuned for the OTA downloads and installation instructions. Meanwhile, you can head over to “settings > system updates” and download Android 9 OTA.
While the update screen does not mention of any of the changes and features, following we have compiled the changelogs from the previous betas.
Xiaomi Mi Box 3 Android 9 Pie features
The Mi Box 3 got the the first beta update based on Android 9 Pie just last month. Xiaomi did not reveal much in the changelog either. Just that it features Android 9 Pie and all of its goodies. The update log only states that you can now enjoy Mi Remote app.
Fortunately, the first beta update went smoothly and only needed a bug fixes for the casting issue. So Xiaomi released a second OTA 0 Beta 1 HotFix update for casting issues with Chromecast or directly from your smartphone for apps like YouTube.
The manufacturer then released the third and final Android 9 Pie beta update for the Mi Box 3 with build OTA 0 Beta 2. This new update fixed a minor issue with API level. It also brought stability to the installed apps and fixed issues while installing certain apps.
Apart from this, Mi Box 3 users can also expect all the features present in Xiaomi’s Android 9 Pie update for the Mi Box S/4K. Here are some features from the Mi Box S/4K’s Android 9 Pie update that you can expect in Mi Box 3.

The update was first posted by a Reddit user /u/Askmetech, who shared a screenshot of the new stable Android 9 Pie OTA for the Xiaomi Mi Box 3. The update was grabbed from a very active Telegram group for the Mi Box S/4K.
