Google’s quarterly Pixel Feature Drop rolled out to the Pixel lineup and it packs new features for the Pixel Camera 9.4 app, stability, and improvements for the Pixel Launcher. The Pixel Launcher 14 has been updated and is now available for download.
Google published a blogpost showcasing all the changes related to the Pixel feature drop from June 2024. The Pixel Launcher gets under the hood stability and performance improvements.
As for the user interface, Google brought the following updates:
- Fixed issues with the navigation bar showing incorrectly.
- Fixed issue with transitions between home screen and lock screen.
- General improvements for performance and stability in certain UI transitions and animations.
On the other hand, Google Pixel Camera 9.4 now lets you manually select which camera lens to use in the main Photo mode, ranging from Ultrawide, Wide, to Telephoto. Another great feature is the automatic selection of the portrait photo. The camera will identify the best photo so you don’t need to retake photos every time.

Pixel Launcher 14 has been refreshed with the latest Material You design, aligning with updates seen across many Google apps. The launcher now offers enhanced customization options, including a new Material You-based theme engine, grid adjustments, app drawer configurations, folder management, widgets, gestures, and much more.
Pixel Launcher has introduced several new features, including suggested apps on the home screen and an option to increase touch sensitivity for the Pixel series. It also added Motion Sense gestures for music control, revamped the Notification History page, and provided a new screenshot preview. Additionally, there’s a new Google home screen widget with enhanced functionalities, alongside Google Assistant.
- Personalized Google Cards: Swipe right from the home screen to see personalized Google cards with news and information tailored to your interests.
- Quick Access to Google Search: Google Search is easily accessible from the primary home screen.
- App Suggestions: The app you need is brought to the top of the A-Z list for quick access.
- Long-Press Shortcuts: Long-press on supported apps to jump directly to the app’s main function or drag shortcuts to the home screen.
- Favorites Row: Swipe up on the bottom Favorites row to find apps from A-Z.
