Google Pixel Watch July 2024 Update Just Rolled Out

Google just rolled out the latest security patch for the Pixel Watch. The new July 2024 update for the Pixel Watch 1 and Watch 2 is a small software update packing just the newer security patches. This comes right after the huge June 2024 Pixel Feature Drop with many features like Car Crash Detection and Fall Detection Enhancements, among other AI (Artificial Intelligence) integrations for the Pixel lineup.
The Pixel Watch now stands equipped with the latest security enhancements, marked by the “July 5, 2024” security patch level with the build number TWD9.240705.001.A1. That’s the only thing listed in the patch notes from Google.
While the previous couple of updates introduced battery drain for the Pixel watches, especially the Pixel Watch 2, the July update is reportedly issuing a patch for the fast battery drain. According to some users, the battery life is much better compared to previous updates.
The changelog for the Pixel Watch July 2024 update primarily highlights the integration of the monthly security patch. The Wear OS Security Bulletin, will be up soon, patching several vulnerabilities related to framework and system.
What’s new with the Pixel Watch and Wear OS update?
Both the Pixel watches are running the latest Wear OS 4 firmware update based on Android 13. Google’s quarterly Pixel Feature Drop packed enhanced safety features, improved usability and entertainment options. The previous June update added the following.
Car Crash Detection: The Pixel Watch 2 introduces Car Crash Detection. This feature automatically checks in with you during a severe car accident and can contact emergency services if you don’t respond. It integrates with Emergency Sharing, notifying your emergency contacts and sharing your real-time location.
Fall Detection Enhancements: Fall Detection on the Pixel Watch 2 has been improved to better detect falls from bicycles. This ensures that help is always within reach, whether you’re commuting or enjoying a leisurely ride.
