Android Auto 12.5 Stable Update Brings Lucid Support, System Health, New Notification UI (Download)

Android Auto 12.5 stable update is now available for download featuring system health metrics, support for more EV cars like Lucid Motors, and revamped Notification UI with badges.
The latest update of Android Auto includes code for Lucid Motors, which means that Android Auto implementation is already in works from the OEM for cars like Lucid Air. All that is required is an OTA update from Lucid Motors to the cars. Apart from Lucid, we also found support for other car manufacturers like Nevo, Hongqi, and GAC Motors. The Android Auto 12.5 stable version also adds support for Fiat, Peugeot, RAM Trucks under STLA codename, which could mean its parent company Stellantis. New versions of Suzuki cars with version 2 is also included.
Furthermore, new feature called System Health Metrics have been added. While we don’t know what it does yet, it may show some system information about your car or Android Auto.
Notification badges have been redesigned in Android Auto to include an icon with image of the sender. They also have a new animation. The update also brings official support for Android 15 and adds new Notification badge Animations.

New Notification badges and animations
New entries related to notification badge and double row status bar have been found. Based on the name, this function likely handles the animation of a notification badges. The notification badges also include the sender image as well as the app it has been sent to.
“Double_row” suggests the notification badge might have a two-line layout, possibly displaying additional information or app icon alongside the badge count.

System Health Metrics
The update also brings System Health Metrics entries. This feature suggest the presence of a health monitoring featuring for Android Auto. One string likely displays the actual health metrics and their values, while the other deals with enabling or disabling a visual overlay showcasing this information.

The string resource named “system_health_metrics_and_value” could be used for showing various system health metrics like diagnosis, errors, usage, battery level, and other car related metrics into Android Auto.
Adds support for Android 15
The v35 suggest the API level of Android 15, which is currently 35. This will apply the appropriate theme for Android Auto phone settings UI if running on the newer Android 15 version.

Car Radio Controls
New car radio controls for FM and AM, similar to Apple’s Car Play. This could be a very useful feature when it comes to using radio on your car.

Wallpaper enteries removed
All wallpaper references from the latest Android Auto 12.5 Beta have been removed as compare to the previous version. This could be due to the new wallpaper setting, which applies your phone’s wallpaper and new Material You design for your Android Auto head unit.
This has made the Android Auto app a little lighter and faster in performance.
Added support for Lucid Motors and more OEM cars
The Android Auto 12.5 Beta confirms that Lucid is indeed working on Android Auto support for all of their cars. However, Lucid Motors may still need to push out an OTA update in support of Android Auto. The Head of Communications for Lucid Motors already posted on X that
Android Auto software is scheduled for OTA update to Lucid Motors Air this Fall.
The update seems to be getting closer as Android Auto 12.5 already supports Lucid cars.
