Open AI announced ChatGPT-4o (onmi) and 4o Mini for free and Plus users. While you cannot explicitly select the 4o or 4o-mini model in your ChatGPT app, it will auto assign depending on the task. The newly announced Advanced Voice Mode and Video Chat may most likely use the GPT-4o mini model, as it is quick and cost-efficient.

The firm has been teasing advanced voice mode for several weeks now, and officially enables in the ChatGPT v1.2024.212. It also has code for Advanced Voice Mode and Video Chat mode features.

Our APK Breakdown of the ChatGPT app unveiled something exciting. Trigger word shortcuts for Voice Mode and Vision Mode. This could mean you can quickly activate Voice Mode and Vision Mode without touching. You could just speak and activate ChatGPT hands-free. You may also be able to set trigger words later. Similar to Google Assistant or Siri.

Vision Mode is also included wherein you can tap the camera icon to capture your surrounding and chat with GPT about it. Real-time conversation with ChatGPT using your camera is now possible.

It was first discovered by us in our APK Breakdown of the latest ChatGPT v1.2024.193 beta. We found two strings stating vision_short_cut_trigger_words and voice_short_cut_trigger_words.

Open AI also states that Advanced Voice is in an alpha build. It may make mistakes, and access is subject to change. Audio and video content will be used to train our models. You can opt out of training, and the alpha, by disabling ‘improve the model for everyone’ in settings.

Many users are seeing the invite to try advanced Voice Mode. However, you may not get in right away. It will be activated server side in the coming days.

Once you see the camera icon, you will know that the advanced Voice Mode is activated.
