WhatsApp Finally Adds “Ask Meta AI or Search” Bar on Android, And It’s Amazing!
Meta just recently announced big changes to the WhatsApp Messenger with renewed design and integration of their newest LLM model, Meta 3.1. However, the new update wasn’t quite available to all, as the release was gradual; especially the new Meta AI search bar. With today’s WhatsApp update, users can finally enjoy the new Meta AI search top bar, as showcased a couple of months ago.
The most anticipated “Ask Meta AI or Search” Bar is now available in the new WhatsApp update. This search bar has a dual purpose of searching contacts as well as asking Meta 3.1 or later. It will also suggest some tasks or things you can ask the AI. The UI will be split between chat search results and AI search suggestions.
WhatsApp’s official Twitter (X) account posted about the new design updates which gives WhatsApp a fresh new look, while keeping it familiar and easy to use. The post also added some new changes which can be seen in the video below.

While the new design already rolled out, the AI was absent and so was the “Ask Meta AI or Search” bar at the top. Everything has now been integrated into the messenger app. See WhatsApp’s new design with a full bottom bar, new layout, icons, and animations.
The Meta chatbot is now available across the globe including the United States, Canada, Europe, India, Singapore, Thailand, and the UK.
As for the iOS, the floating chat button is now gone and replaced with a full bottom search bar with options for Chats, Updates, Communities, and Calls on iPhones and iPads. The top search bar is now replaced with Meta AI, which also doubles as search function for both Android and iPhones.
WhatsApp also added another section for filtering our chats with options ranging from All, Unread, and Groups.
The iPhone UI is the same as Android, except it adds another tab for Settings at the bottom panel.
