Samsung Galaxy S24 Series Hit by White and Green Line Display Issue

A wide range of Samsung Galaxy devices are affected by the notorious Green Line issue, and even the flagship Galaxy S24 series devices are not spared. In our previous article, we reported that the Green Line plague hits Samsung 2021–22 phones. While there are not many accounts suggesting newer Galaxy devices, quite a few Galaxy S24 users have reported that their devices got unusual looking green lines after the recent August 2024 software update.
One user Daniel_Joe posted in Samsung forums that their Samsung S24, which they had for 4 months and running the latest One UI 6.1 firmware update. The S24 got the white line all of a sudden. The user also confirmed that they recently updated to August Security Patch Level with full firmware build S921BXXS3AXGD.
However, there is something peculiar about this white line. It only impacts the very top line of the display and is horizontal, instead of the vertical line we usually find in these scenarios.
Another user in the same thread further added their own Galaxy S24 Ultra affected with green line. This is also unique case and is also horizontal.
What is the Samsung Green Line Issue?
The Samsung Green Line refers to a peculiar incident where a thin, green vertical line appears on the display of certain smartphones, seemingly out of nowhere. This line typically runs from the top to the bottom of the screen, affecting the user experience and potentially indicating an underlying hardware or software malfunction.
In case of Galaxy S24 series, the line is horizontal. The cause can’t be speculated just yet.
Potential Causes and Solutions
The exact cause of the Samsung Green Line issue remains a subject of speculation. Some users attribute it to excess heat generated during the firmware update process, while others suspect it could be a hardware defect. Some cases can also be caused due to software glitches.
Solution
The good news is Samsung is offering free screen replacement for green line issue in some countries, even out of warranty. If your device is under warranty, contact Samsung custom support immediately.
The same thing happened to the Galaxy S20 series some years back, and Samsung replaced the displays at no cost, even those out of warranty.
