Mobvoi announced the Wear OS 4 beta program for TicWatch update back in April 2024. While that was a closed beta program, it seems like the testing concluded successfully and the stable update is now rolling out. The flagship TicWatch Pro 5 series devices are now receiving the most anticipated Wear OS 4 software update starting today. With the 5th gen receiving the latest firmware upgrade, we can expect the TicWatch 3 series to receive the same in the near future.
Mobvoi just announced in a blogpost that TicWatch Pro 5 and TicWatch Pro 5 Enduro users will begin receiving notifications for the Wear OS 4 update. This is a phased rollout, so the update will come to your device eventually this month for all devices currently running Wear OS 3.5. Users can expect to see the update become available on their devices over the coming weeks, with timing varying by region.
It will come with some useful features like seamless Backup and Restore, Phone Transfer, and enhanced system stability and security.
One of the standout features of Wear OS 4 is the introduction of a robust backup and restore system. This new functionality allows users to securely backup their data and settings, ensuring a seamless transition when upgrading to a new device or restoring after a reset.
The new phone transfer feature eliminates the need for a factory reset when pairing your TicWatch Pro 5 with a new mobile device.
Wear OS 4 brings significant improvements to overall system stability, ensuring a smoother and more reliable user experience. Additionally, the security patch has been updated to September 2024, providing users with the latest protections against potential vulnerabilities.
