Download Android Auto 13.2 APK: LECCS & Type 6 Charging Support for EVs Added

Android Auto 13.1

Google released a new stable update for Android Auto with version 13.2 adding support for a few more charging connectors apart from NACS for Tesla. Android Auto now supports a new charging connector which is mostly used in light EVs like electric scooters. Does this mean Android Auto is coming to bikes? Let’s find out and see what’s new with Android Auto 13.2 and download the latest APK here!

The last few updates to Android Auto have been released directly to the stable version, skipping beta versions entirely. AA 13+ skipped the beta version entirely. The latest update features support for two new types of chargers, like Type 6 and LECCS (Light Electric Combined Charging System); in addition to NACS.

Android Auto coming to Electric Scooters?

Android Auto now supports LECCS (Light Electric Combined Charging System). We found the following toggle under Android Auto’s Electric vehicle settings. It now supports Type 6 and LECCS. The later is especially fascinating as it is mostly used in electric bikes or scooters.

LECCS is a charging connector designed and engineered in India specifically for light electric vehicles (LEVs) like Ather Energy. It is mostly used in electric scooters like Ather, which has a vast and reliable fast-charging network in India and other Asian countries.

Does this mean, Android Auto is coming to electric scooters?

Possibly, but may not be a full-fledged Android Auto. Ather Energy has partnered with Google to provide real-time information on fast charging stations compatible with LECCS. We will need to wait to see how the implementation goes. As you can connect your smartphone to electric two-wheelers now, Android Auto can be a possibility as well.

As we reported earlier, Google pushed Android Auto v13 adding code for supercharger connector and NACS charging standards to Android Auto EV settings. The setting did say Non-Tesla. But Android Auto has since removed the non-Tesla postfix from NACS.

Regardless, Android Auto now supports EVs with NACS charger like some Ford, GM, Kia, Volvo, Rivian EVs.

Note: Used Head Unit Reloaded (HUR) to obtain the above screenshot for better representation. You should find the same settings on your car’s head unit as well.
