[Download] Nothing OS 3.0 Open Beta for Phone 2 with Android 15 Released
As reported previously, we released the full changelog for Nothing OS 3.0 coming to all the Nothing Phones. However, the rollout schedule is set for every other month for each device. Today, Nothing Tech released the first Nothing OS 3.0 software update based on Android 15 for the Phone 2 via open beta program. Nothing released the full changelog and timeline for the Nothing Phone rollout schedule in the community forums. The Nothing OS 3.0 released for the Phone 2 featuring Android 15. The features and changelog is slightly different from the NOS 3.0 for the Phone 2a.
The Nothing OS 3.0 brings redesign across the system including Homescreen, Lockscreen, Quick Settings, new Smart Drawers, and Android 15 with all of its features.
As for the Nothing specific features, here what we get:
One of the standout features in Nothing OS 3.0 is Shared Widgets. With Shared Widgets, you can link your home screen widgets with those of a friend or loved one, allowing you to see each other’s content updates or reactions in real time. Whether it’s a widget tracking daily activities, notes, or reactions, this feature provides a new way to share moments and stay engaged with others directly from your home screen.
Nothing OS 3.0 introduces an expanded range of options for customizing the lock screen. Long-pressing the lock screen now opens a customization page, giving users control over clock styles, widget placement, and more. The lock screen widget space has also been expanded, so users can add more widgets without compromising visual appeal or clutter. With the upgraded clock faces, users can choose from an array of styles to suit their preferences.
The Smart Drawer is a new feature that uses AI to automatically categorize apps into folders, creating an organized, intuitive layout. For users who want even more control, the Smart Drawer lets you pin frequently used apps to the top, eliminating the need to scroll through endless app lists. This addition streamlines access to important apps and enhances organization.
Quick Settings has received a redesign that simplifies the customization experience. The new layout prioritizes ease of use, with streamlined controls for Network, Internet, and Bluetooth settings. An enhanced widget library further refines the design, allowing users to access widgets with more flexibility. This redesign aligns with Nothing’s minimalist aesthetic while improving functionality.
The camera on the Phone 2 also gets a boost in Nothing OS 3.0. The Camera Widget now launches faster, making it easier to capture those spur-of-the-moment shots. HDR scene processing is now quicker, so high-contrast images appear clearer and more dynamic. Portrait effects have been optimized by fine-tuning blur intensity based on the subject’s face size, resulting in more natural-looking depth effects. Additionally, performance has been improved for low-light shooting, while a refined zoom slider ensures smoother adjustments.
The Enhanced Pop-Up View in Nothing OS 3.0 takes multitasking to a new level by allowing users to resize, move, and pin app windows. You can drag the pop-up view to the screen edge for quick access or resize it by pulling the bottom corners, creating a customizable workspace that suits your needs. When a new notification comes in, simply swipe down on it to open it in the pop-up view, letting you stay informed without interrupting your current task.
Nothing OS 3.0 packs a number of additional quality-of-life improvements that enhance the overall experience on the Phone 2:

How to Install Nothing OS 3.0 on your phone?
Warning: Before you dive headfirst into the installation process, it’s crucial to understand what you’re getting yourself into. This is a developer preview, which means it’s an early build intended for developers and advanced users. It might have bugs, missing features, and stability issues. Regular users are strongly advised to wait for a more polished, official release.
Important Considerations Before Installation
- Backup is Critical: Upgrading to the Developer Preview will erase all your data. Creating a comprehensive backup is absolutely essential.
- Unstable Software: Be prepared for bugs, crashes, and unexpected behavior. This is a developer preview, not a daily driver experience.
- Limited Functionality: Certain Nothing apps like X/Weather, Launcher, Recorder, and Widgets might not be pre-installed.
Installation Procedure
- Ensure you have installed NOS version 2.6, build number should be Pacman-U2.6-240828_1906
- Download the following APK and install it from your downloads.
- Navigate to Settings > System > Update to Beta version.
- Tap “Check for new version” and follow the steps to get started.
How to roll back to the stable build?
This roll-back solution will erase all the data of your devices. Please be sure to backup first.
- Download the rollback package for Nothing OS 2.6 here.
- Navigate to Settings > System > Update to Beta version.
- Tap “Import file” and select the previously downloaded package.
- Follow the steps to carry through with the rollback.
