Latest Pixel Feature Drop Enables 5G in More Countries for Google Pixels

Brazil, Indonesia, UK for select carriers, and Canada are among the countries where 5G can now be enabled with select carriers on Google Pixel phones like Pixel 7a, 8a, and above.
Google is delivering incredible enhancements to their older and mid-range Pixel series phones. Just recently, the search giant updated its software support policy for the Pixel 6, 6a, 6 Pro, 7, 7a, 7 Pro, and Pixel Fold. Pixel 6 and above will receive both OS and security updates for a full five years! This means, the Pixel 6 and above will receive Android 17 and beyond!
That’s now all, the latest December 2024 Pixel Feature Drop now enables 5G connectivity in unsupported countries for Pixel 7 and above. Several users have reportedly received 5G reception on their Google Pixel devices in several countries ranging from Brazil, Indonesia, UK for select carriers, Canada, and more.

Indonesian Pixel users discovered that 5G connectivity became accessible on their devices following a December software update. The rollout, though unexpected, highlights Google’s ongoing commitment to enhancing user experiences. Pixel 7a users in the region, for instance, reported accessing 5G on carriers such as Telkomsel.
Phones like the Pixel 7a and Pixel 8 Pro now support 5G in areas initially unsupported due to regulatory or infrastructure limitations.
Following the latest Pixel Feature Drop, numerous users worldwide reported activation of 5G in various regions and carriers.
As we already know, Indonesia with Telkomsel can enable 5G. One user in UK for Pixel 8a also confirmed that 5G works on my 8a with Telekomsel/XL e-sims. Brazil too got 5G with Android 15 on December Security Patch. Pixel 7a Japanese variant also enabled 5G across the world.
The unexpected activation of 5G beyond the first-world narrative is shows Google’s commitment to their Pixel series devices. Google is aggressively competing with Apple, at least in software update support for their phones.
