Android Auto 13.6 Stable Update: What’s New in 2025

Google released the Android Auto 13.6 update to stable channel after a long wait. There’s no beta this time around, as the new update does not come with any new features. Android Auto 13.6 is merely a stability update featuring bug fixes and compatibility for several smartphones and car head units.
The one thing we have observed is the latest update for Google Maps also fits the Android Auto screen much better now. It is highly recommended to update to the latest Google Maps update on your Android.
This first couple of Android Auto 2025 stable releases primarily focuses on bug fixes and optimizations across various Android devices and car infotainment systems. The previous update brought new features and expanded compatibility with additional vehicle manufacturers, motorcycles, and light electric vehicles.
As we already know, Google is aiming Gemini AI assistant for Android Auto soon. The new assistant has already replaced the native Google Assistant on smartphones and even smartwatches. The remaining platforms include Android Automotive, cars with Google built-in, and Android Auto.
While we wait for Gemini AI to take over in Android Auto, let’s see what’s new in Android Auto so far!

Upon digging deeper into the Android Auto EV settings, we found a new toggle for NACS (non-Tesla) But it says non-Tesla. This feature will now show Tesla superchargers with NACS standards in Google Maps for Android Auto.

LECCS & Type 6 Charging Support for EVs Added
This was further enhanced by adding support for LECCS (Light Electric Combined Charging System). We found the following toggle under Android Auto’s Electric vehicle settings. It now supports Type 6 and LECCS. The later is especially fascinating as it is mostly used in electric bikes or scooters.

LECCS is a charging connector designed and engineered in India specifically for light electric vehicles (LEVs) like Ather Energy. It is mostly used in electric scooters like Ather, which has a vast and reliable fast-charging network in India and other Asian countries.

The radio options range from classic rock, country, drama, hip hop, jazz, and more.
Code for Autofill was found in the AA. This could make it easier for logging into apps like Spotify or fill details save in your Google account like name and address easier for Android Auto users.
If you don’t already know, Android’s Autofill is a feature designed to streamline the process of filling out forms and input fields across various applications on Android devices. It minimizes the need for manual entry of data, thereby saving time and reducing input errors.
This includes Autofill Services for applications like password managers that store user data and can fill out forms in other apps.
We found the following code
<public type=”string” name=”autofill” />
While we are now sure just yet, but it might autofill forms, username, passwords, address, name, etc. stored on your Google account, making it easier for Android Auto users.

Android Auto 13.5 Beta adds Light EVs too!
Google is added support for new charging standards like Type 6 & LECCS (Light Electric Combined Charging System) for light EVs such as scooters.
The LECCS charging standard is particularly interesting as it brings Android Auto features to light EVs like scooters. TVS, which only manufacture motorcycles and EV scooters, has been added to Android Auto 13.5. We found the following code in the APK.
<public type=”drawable” name=”ic_oem_tvs” />
The code applauncher_exit_icon_motorcycle further confirms Android Auto being the default for new motorcycles.
Google Maps Incident Reporting and speed limit
Android Auto now features Google Maps Incident Reporting, here’s how to enable. Google Maps will now show live speed alongside the speed limit for the route in Android, iOS, Android Auto and CarPlay.
Google Maps will not show live speed alongside the speed limit for the route. It will also automatically change the speed limit for different locations. This new feature is being added slowly for Android, iOS, and CarPlay. As for Android Auto, it will most likely be released in the next update. So stay tuned.
