Nothing OS 3.1 Software Update Introduced Coming to all Nothing Phones

Nothing Tech just launched two new phones in the mid range devices – Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Pro. The phones are powered by new Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chip and Qualcomm Adreno GPU for all your gaming requirements. The phone-maker has positioned both the phones as a mid-range devices claiming flagship-like performance. The phones also got an upgraded Nothing OS 3.1 firmware update featuring Android 15. Nothing Phone (3a) and (3a) Pro devices showcase a sophisticated design while keeping the transparent back design from the predecessors. It features upgraded glass back panels and enhanced internal symmetry, the refined aesthetic is complemented by an IP64 durability rating.
The new camera system is Nothing’s most advanced to date, featuring a 50MP main sensor on both models. The Phone (3a) incorporates an ultra-wide lens and a telephoto camera with a 50MP sensor and a fast f/2.0 aperture, delivering a 50mm equivalent focal length and a 2x optical zoom that can extend up to 4x lossless in-sensor zoom. In contrast, the Phone (3a) Pro takes mobile photography further with a flagship periscope camera that boasts a large 1/1.95-inch Sony LYTIA 600 sensor, a 70mm equivalent focal length, and a fast f/2.55 aperture.
This setup provides an optical 3x zoom favored by portrait shooters and unlocks 60x ultra zoom with AI-enhanced clarity, along with telemacro capabilities for capturing fine details as close as 15cm from the subject. On the front, the Phone (3a) offers a 32MP camera, while the Pro variant steps up with a 50MP sensor capable of recording high-quality 4K videos enhanced by adaptive AI stabilization and improved low-light performance.
Under the hood, both models are powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 Mobile Platform, alongside an 11% boost in graphics performance courtesy of the Qualcomm Adreno GPU. Enhanced AI processing is a significant upgrade, with the Phone (3a) Series achieving a 92% improvement in AI task processing. Both the phones feature a whopping 5000 mAh battery.
With a 6.77-inch Full HD+ screen delivering a sharp 387 pixels per inch, the adaptive 120Hz refresh rate ensures smooth visuals, whether you’re browsing or gaming. The phones also feature a standard touch sampling rate of 480Hz, which ramps up to 1000Hz in Gaming Mode, ensuring every swipe and tap is registered with precision. Auto brightness capabilities drive the display to 1300 nits under typical conditions, while peak brightness reaches an impressive 3000 nits—a substantial upgrade over previous models.

Essential Space is an AI-powered hub designed to capture, process, and recall your notes, ideas, and inspirations with ease. Acting as a second memory, Essential Space removes the friction of logging and retrieving information, making it effortless to document your thoughts on the go. The experience is anchored by the Essential Key—an intuitively placed button on the right side of the Phone (3a) Series. With a single press, you can instantly send content to Essential Space; a long press records a voice note, and a double-tap opens your entire collection of saved content.
Essential Space Early Access is available to all customers who purchase a Phone (3a) or Phone (3a) Pro. This early access not only introduces you to the current features but also paves the way for exciting new additions in the coming months.
