Motorola rolled out stable Android 15 update
Google rolled out stable Android 15 update last year, featuring several QoL upgrades and several features. While Google is now on it’s Android 16 era, many OEMs are struggling to keep up with the update. Samsung, Nothing, OnePlus have just started rolling out the latest software update for their phones. The latest smartphone manufacture to release Android 15 is Motorola.
Motorola just released Android 15 for the popular Moto G54 device. This comes in India where the device is most popular. The update will soon be rolled out in other countries.

Manufacturers are now updating their devices to Android 15 including Samsung, OnePlus, Asus, Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, etc. Motorola has now joined the club and released the same for some of their smartphones. The latest one to receive Android 15 firmware upgrade is the Moto G54.
What’s new in Android 15 for Motorola?
This update brings several notable enhancements to the device. One of the standout improvements is the ability to pair up to five devices via Bluetooth, a feature that promises smoother connectivity for users juggling multiple peripherals. Additionally, the update introduces significant customization options on the lock screen, allowing for personalized clocks and shortcuts that better reflect individual user styles. Along with these customizations, Motorola has darkened the Settings UI and introduced new fonts.
However, users have reported some issues that may impact the overall user experience. A noticeable lag when adjusting the volume via the quick settings panel could be a potential issue. Furthermore, a particularly frustrating bug has caused the wallpaper function to fail, leaving users with a completely black background—a stark contrast to the smooth operation experienced just a day before. There are also mixed opinions regarding the animation tweaks; while some find the changes subtle and modern, others feel that the adjustments in application opening and closing animations are a step backward.
Concerns have been raised about the removal of certain legacy features, such as the ability to configure navigation buttons to their traditional positions and select a 4G network preference.
Android 15 features
Google has listed new Android 15 features. As Motorola devices have firmware close to AOSP, most of these features will be present in Moto phones as well. However, not all features will come to Motorola, as it is up to the manufacturer to implement those.
The latest Android 15 beta post includes all the features in detail:
- Android 15 activates Satellite Messaging (depends on manufacturer)
- Circle to Search
- Private Space offers the ability to hide apps on your device

The highlight of Android 15 is AI integration like Gemini Nano. However, the integration completely depends on phone manufacturer and Motorola has not yet implemented Gemini Nano. The Gemini Nano AI model process text input as well as sounds, and spoken language in context.
Android is also ramping up its security features. A new, opt-in scam protection feature will help detect scam phone calls while preserving user privacy.
OEMs are integrating Theft Detection Lock starting the new security patches. This utilizes Google AI to sense if your device has been stolen and quickly locks down your information, ensuring your data remains secure.
The Circle to Search feature, currently available on over 100 million Android devices, is set to expand its reach and capabilities. By the end of the year, this feature will double its availability, allowing users to search for information more efficiently.
