Android 16 Beta 3.1 Hotfix Update is Critical for Pixel 6, 7, 8, and Pixel 9 Series

Today, Google released a hotfix update for third iteration of Android 16 beta with build Beta 3.1. Android 16 Beta 3.1 is a critical update for Pixel devices running the beta 3 version, as it addresses several persistent issues while introducing performance enhancements that promise a more refined user experience. Beta releases like this are crucial for gathering feedback and pinpointing bugs before the final stable release reaches a wider audience.
The latest update focuses on resolving critical bugs that have affected many users. One of the most notable fixes is related to the system Settings app, which previously experienced repeated crashes when the device language was set to any option other than English. By addressing this issue, Android 16 Beta 3.1 improves the overall stability and accessibility of the operating system for users around the world.
Additionally, the update corrects problems with screen brightness settings that caused erratic oscillations between app-specified and system-specified brightness levels. Battery life and performance have also received significant attention in this update. Developers at Google have managed to tackle issues that were causing excessive battery drain due to high CPU load.
At the same time, improvements have been made to prevent memory leaks within the system server, ensuring smoother operation and a more efficient use of resources. These enhancements are particularly important for the devices lasting throughout the day without recharging.
For those eager to experience these improvements firsthand, enrolling in the Android Beta Program is a straightforward process. Eligible devices, specifically the Pixel 6 or newer, can be enrolled through the official website listed below.
All features have been implemented into the OS and the next update will only focus on stability. If everything goes as planned, the May 2025 I/O will mark the stable release of Android 16.
The best part of Android 16 is that it extended support for Pixel 6 through Pixel 9 Pro; extending over 5 years of OS support. In fact, Pixel 6, 7, and OG Fold will receive Android 17 and above.
