Stable Android Auto 14 update officially adds Gemini Live, replaces Google Assistant
Google released a major update to Android Auto with version 14. As we reported earlier, Android Auto 14 features the most anticipated Gemini Live! Google’s new AI assistant called Gemini is a replacement to the older Google Assistant. While it hasn’t been updated in two years, the reason is Gemini is taking over. As we reported in the previous post alongside and Google’s official announcement, the native Google Assistant is shutting down for an upgraded AI assistant called Gemini. Google Assistant has been the default assistant for phones, and especially for cars with Android Auto for the last 10 years. t is now time to move to the AI boom.
Google said,
Over the coming months, we’re upgrading more users on mobile devices from Google Assistant to Gemini; and later this year, the classic Google Assistant will no longer be accessible on most mobile devices.
Additionally, we’ll be upgrading tablets, cars and devices that connect to your phone, such as headphones and watches, to Gemini. We’re also bringing a new experience, powered by Gemini, to home devices like speakers, displays and TVs. We look forward to sharing more details with you in the next few months. Until then, Google Assistant will continue to operate on these devices.
Gemini Live is official for Android Auto 14
Android Auto 14 stable adds Gemini Live code. This means, Gemini Live can be activated on your car head unit with the latest version!

This is the first time the Gemini Live was mention in Android Auto source code with code gemini_live_icon. This means, the new AI assistant will be active any time soon now. It will also prompt you and walk you through the new Gemini assistant features for first time openers.
However, the minimum system requirements to run Gemini is 2 GB of RAM or more, running Android 10 and up. So not all cars may get Gemini right now, as most car head units have a lower memory and Android version. Google may need some time to optimize for lower end car head units.

Android Auto 14 stable adds critical feature for temperature control and AC control. You can now set the temperature to high, low, or turn off directly from Android Auto interface in eligible devices.
